HOW SHOULD I PREPARE FOR MY SHOOT?
Talk to your reps about looks, wardrobe, hair, makeup, etc. to make sure we’re getting what they want. If you don’t have an agent or manager talk to me about how best to prepare.
WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?
Talk to your reps. Some are very specific about looks and wardrobe, while others have more general guidelines. Either way, talk with me beforehand about wardrobe and what looks we’re going for in the shoot.
HOW FAR IN ADVANCE DO I NEED TO BOOK A SHOOT?
If you’re flexible with days and times, I can usually schedule you within two weeks.
HOW MANY PEOPLE A DAY DO YOU SHOOT?
Usually one or two.
WHEN DO YOU SHOOT?
Every day of the week, mostly mornings and early afternoons.
WHEN IS THE BEST TIME OF DAY TO SHOOT?
The way I use lighting, there is no “best” time of day. It’s more a question of your schedule and what time of day you feel your best.
DO YOU SHOOT INSIDE OR OUTSIDE? WITH STUDIO OR NATURAL LIGHT?
I shoot both inside and outside, with a combination of studio and natural light. I’m happy to do more of one or the other depending on what you prefer.
HOW LONG DOES A SHOOT LAST?
Usually 2-3 hours depending on hair and makeup and the number of looks.
CAN I SEE MY SHOTS DURING THE SHOOT?
Yes. I like to review each look with you to make sure we have it covered before moving on.
WHEN DO I GET MY SHOTS?
You get your hi res images via we transfer the day of your shoot, and your online gallery one business day after your shoot.
DO I GET THE HI RES IMAGES?
Yes. The hi res images are included in the session fee. You will get them via we transfer the day of your shoot.
WHO OWNS THE COPYRIGHT?
I retain the copyright of all the images but you have permission to use them as headshots, on social media, personal websites, etc. If you want to use any of the images in a book or publication, please contact me.
CAN I POST MY SHOTS ON SOCIAL MEDIA?
Yes, but all posts must be tagged and credited @davidcarlsonphotography (instagram) and @dcphoto2016 (twitter and facebook)

WHAT IF I GET AN AUDITION?
Whenever possible I will try to move a start time 30-60 minutes, but I strongly recommend you book out with your reps so you don’t lose your deposit or stress out trying to choose between the audition and your shoot.
